  • Man accused of entering house, assaulting couple

    A Lancaster man was arrested this week and charged with climbing through a kitchen window and assaulting a couple inside a home.
    Travis Antwan Davis, 26, 704 Central Ave., was arrested Dec. 1 on charges of second-degree assault and battery and second-degree criminal domestic violence, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.
    The arrest came minutes after officers responded just after midnight to a Penny Street home about a disturbance. A 911 dispatcher reported a woman was on the line and was yelling for Davis not to take a child from the scene.

  • 3rd killing in 3 weeks; man charged

    Lancaster County deputies arrested a Lancaster man for the shooting death of another man Saturday night, the third such killing in less than three weeks.
    Michael Brent Gay, 32, of 1239 Branch St. is charged pending a first appearance with murder in connection with the death of Joshua Flint McManus, 40.
    The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report said deputies, with support from Lancaster Police Department detectives, responded to a report of a shooting at Gay’s house about 11:45 p.m. Dec. 5.

  • Man runs from police during arrest, still at large

    Police are still on the hunt for a Lancaster man who ran from officers late last month as he was being arrested on charges of assaulting a woman and holding her against her will.
    Arrest warrants have been issued for Demarco Font’e Blair, 26, 436 Clinton Ave., on charges of kidnapping, second-degree criminal domestic violence and resisting arrest, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.

  • Heroin suspects answer yes when police ask: May we search car?

    A Lancaster couple was arrested for trafficking heroin after consenting to a voluntary search of their car, the second such arrest for them under similar circumstances since August.
    Jason Leonard Daniel, 36, and girlfriend Misty Dawn Friend, 33, both of 135 Charlie Stack Road, are each charged pending first appearances with trafficking heroin four to 14 grams.

  • Woman charged with punching pregnant woman

    A Lancaster woman remains behind bars after being charged with punching a pregnant woman in the stomach during an assault last month.
    Gabriel Denise Hood, 38, 203 N. Hughes St., was arrested Nov. 18 on charges of unlawful entry and third-degree assault and battery, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.
    Police responded at about 9:17 p.m. Nov. 18 to a home in the 600 block of Dunlap Street about a large fight in progress.

  • Details emerge in shooting

    A Lancaster man shot to death in his car late Nov. 28 may have been shot several times after his car struck an apartment on Douglas Road, a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report said.
    The murder was the second murder in four days involving drivers of moving vehicles and the third significant shooting incident in and around Lancaster since Nov. 18.

  • Authorities ID victim, suspect in car shooting

    Lancaster County authorities have identified the victim and the suspect in a fatal shooting on Memorial Park Road in Lancaster Nov. 25.
    Danielle Lamar Peay, 28, is charged pending a first appearance with murder, attempted murder and related firearms charges, a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office statement said.
    Peay is accused of killing 26-year-old Delvelceo Kirk of the 500 block of Ginger Cake Road, the driver of a car in which Peay was a passenger.

  • Baby tests positive for marijuana

    A 1-year-old child of a Lancaster couple under investigation for child abuse tested positive for marijuana during a recent drug test, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report said.
    The Nov. 20 report said the S.C. Department of Social Services in Lancaster requested drug testing of the couple and their four children, ages 1 to 14, earlier this month as part of an ongoing child abuse investigation.
    The report said the 45-year-old father, 38-year-old mother and the couple’s youngest child all tested positive for marijuana.

  • Third burglary spree suspect arrested

    A third suspect has been arrested in a string of burglaries, larcenies and automobile break-ins across Lancaster County between Oct. 21 and Nov. 3, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office reported.
    On Nov. 16, deputies arrested Bobby Charles Wallace, 25 of Waxhaw, N.C., on warrants for nine counts of second-degree burglary, four counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, two counts of petty larceny, and one count of larceny of a bicycle.

  • Fort Lawn man charged in Walmart shoplifting

    A Fort Lawn man was arrested Nov. 16 after an anonymous tip identified him as a suspect seen on surveillance video shoplifting with a woman and child at the Indian Land Walmart.
    James Michael Tindell, 45, of 549 Hawthorne Road, Fort Lawn, is charged with shoplifting and petty larceny pending a first appearance.
