  • Hearing set for July 14

    Prosecutors are gearing up for a hearing later this month for a Lancaster man facing multiple charges related to more than a half-million dollars in misappropriated funds from three area agencies.

    Sixth Circuit Solicitor Doug Barfield said Wednesday, July 2, that a hearing will be held July 14 for Ezra Brown Crenshaw Jr., 42, 2176 Country Club Drive, though he declined to give specifics about what type of hearing it is or what it will entail. 

  • Man allegedly accosts girl in Walmart

    The search is on for a man police say approached an 11-year-old girl inside Lancaster’s Walmart and made “very unsettling remarks” to her on Wednesday, June 18. 

    Lancaster Police Department Capt. Scott Grant is asking for the public’s help in identifying the still-unknown man who spoke to the girl inside the store at about noon on Wednesday.

  • Men steal $3,000 in cigarettes from convenience store

    Authorities are trying to identify three men who stole at least $3,000 worth of cigarettes from a Lancaster convenience store on Tuesday, June 10. 

    Officers responded at 2:48 p.m. to a 911 call about a shoplifting that just happened at Citgo, 1200 N. Main St., according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.

    A strong work ethic and a commitment to reducing crime trends in Lancaster County are just some of the reasons a local deputy received a statewide recognition this week. 

    The S.C. Sheriffs’ Association revealed Thursday, May 29, that Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Michael Miller was selected as the 2013 Deputy of the Year.

    RICHBURG – A spokeswoman for Chester County School District said Friday, May 23, Lewisville High School parents received a voice mail from school principal Dr. Jim Knox concerning a rumor of a possible weapon at the school, and stating there would be increased security at the school next week.

  • Purse snatching suspects arrested in Columbia could be wanted here

    COLUMBIA – Local investigators will determine in the upcoming days if the two suspects arrested in Richland County for a Friday, May 23, purse-snatching are the same two wanted for here.

    “We’ve been talking to them (Richland County Sheriff’s Office) since late Friday,” said Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Matt Shaw. “If that turns out to be the case, it’s certainly good news for us.”
