  • Jury finds Sam Parker guilty

    CHESTERFIELD – Former Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker was found guilty on all eight counts against him and will serve at least two years in prison.

    “Today is a sad day in my life,” Parker said, in addressing the Circuit Court Judge Lee Alford and the court. 

    “I respect the verdict…I apologize to Chesterfield County and what I put this county through.”

    A Lancaster man was arrested Friday, April 18, for indecent exposure at a Lancaster convenience store. 

    The arrest came less than 24 hours after police released a series of surveillance photos in the hopes of finding a serial flasher, though its unknown if the cases are related.

    In what has become a recurring trend in recent months, a Lancaster woman was arrested April 9 on meth-related charges after police discovered a trunkful of meth ingredients in her car.

    A 13-year-old girl was startled to find a man possibly recording her in a Lancaster department store dressing room on Sunday, April 6, though police have yet to find the suspect. 

  • Burglars assault county homeowner

    Investigators are searching for at least two men involved in a botched burglary that left a Lancaster man injured Monday afternoon, April 7. 

    Deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Doster Road at 4:10 p.m. following a 911 call about a burglary in progress, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office press release.

    A Lancaster man caught on a store surveillance camera trying to shoplift was arrested this week on multiple charges, including a fugitive warrant from Florida. 

  • Police investigating possible carjacking

    Police are looking for more information in the possible carjacking of a man outside a Lancaster gas station early Tuesday morning, March 25.

    Officers were called to the lobby of the police department at about 5 a.m. Tuesday after a man arrived to report a carjacking, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report. 

  • Man found passed out in front of school

    A Lancaster man faces two alcohol-related charges after he allegedly passed out behind the wheel while waiting in a car rider line at a county elementary school on Wednesday, March 26, to pick up a child.

    Michael Douglas Hammond, 35, 1285 West Shore Drive, was charged with public drunkeness and an open container violation, according to a Lancaster Sheriff’s Office incident report, 

  • Moped driver dies from injuries

    A Lancaster man died from his injuries after he was struck by a car while riding his moped through a city intersection on March 17. 

    Calvin McIlwain, 60, was first taken to Springs Memorial Hospital and later flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of his injuries, though he later died on March 24, said Lancaster Police Capt. Scott Grant.
