  • Police, Fire, EMS: Aug. 30, 2015

    According to Lancaster Police Department reports:
    • Shots were fired into two apartments in the 2400 block of Palmetto Place apartments and into a car parked in front of the 2500 block about 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. The report said officers were met by one of the residents, who was carrying her son. The victim said neither was hurt, but they were awakened by gunfire. Officers found bullet holes and bullets in two apartment walls. A bullet hole was also found in the door of a 1996 Honda Accord that was parked nearby.

  • Police, Fire, EMS: Aug. 16, 2015

    According to Lancaster Police Department reports:
    • Robert Edward Leaphart Jr., 56, 1126 Meadow Drive, was charged Aug. 2, with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. According to the report, a family member found a plastic bag containing 1.87 grams of cocaine and notified authorities.

  • Investigations result in two sexual assault arrests

    The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office closed two criminal sexual conduct cases this month dating back to March, one involving the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.
    Billy Hank Houser, 48, of 785 Battleground Road, Cowpens, is charged with second-degree sexual conduct with a minor victim age 11 to 14.
    The case came to the attention of Lancaster County investigators May 8 after a guidance counselor at the girl’s school learned the girl had told several of her friends she might be pregnant.

  • Good Samaritan robbed after giving Lancaster man a ride home

    A Lancaster man is facing attempted murder and other charges after he reportedly robbed a Good Samaritan who gave him a ride early last month.

    The incident also led to the arrests of a woman and another man at the same address, the latter on drug charges. 

    Clint Dewayne Kiker, 26, of 6051 Shiloh Unity Road, is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.

    According to Lancaster County Sheriff's Office reports:
    • A county deputy had to fire his weapon at a dog June 20 that sent a Lancaster woman to the emergency room.

  • Shots fired at Seaboard Circle home

    Four men at a Seaboard Circle home had to take cover after multiple gunshots were fired in their direction about 3 p.m. Monday, May 25.
    According to a Lancaster Police Department incident report, the men reported that 30 shots were fired at the home, while they were sitting on the front porch. Seaboard Circle runs between 15th and Elm streets.
    When officers arrived at the home, they spoke with several witnesses and found several bullet holes in the home, as well as two cars with bullet holes in them.

  • Police, Fire, EMS: May 24, 2015

    According to Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office reports:
    • Deputies arrested Blake Howard Horton, 30, Great Falls on May 1 for possession of heroin and cited him for possession of drug paraphernalia.
    Deputies also cited another man during the same incident, Trent Thomas Glidewell, 24, of Great Falls, for possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Faulty sprinkler, vandals damage buildings

    Educational facilities at three locations in Lancaster were damaged last month, one by equipment failure and two others by vandals.

    The first incident occurred inside the University of South Carolina’s Bradley Arts & Sciences Building on July 10 when a fire sprinkler broke in a classroom.

  • Police charge alleged burglar with attempted murder for trying to run over homeowner

    A traffic stop last month ended in the arrest of a Lancaster man on multiple charges, including attempted murder.

    Christian Angel Pagan, 20, 2389 Mackey Road, was charged July 19 with attempted murder, burglary, third offense simple possession of marijuana and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, according to multiple Lancaster Police Department incident reports.
