    Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Lancaster man Friday after he tried to kill his father, according to reports.
    Billy Charles “Diddle” Poston, 26, of 1824 Lynwood Drive is charged with one count of attempted murder.

    Though only 13 years old, the A.R. Rucker Middle School eighth-graders stand on the cusp of a national memory as they are among the youngest Americans with first-hand memories of Sept. 11, 2001. 

    The last of a generation, in many ways.

    Though enveloped in the innocence of youth, that they and others their age have any memories of the tragedy at all is amazing.

    The new headquarters for Founders Federal Credit Union provides cozy confines for its employees while catching the eye of customers and others who happen to pass the spacious campus off Gillsbrook Road in Lancaster. 

    Some nighttime passersby are so drawn to the building that they try to walk up to it and take pictures. Sightseeing may be fine, but if you get too close, a security guard will be right there to ask about your intentions. 

  • Council to discuss airport park

    Lancaster County Council will discuss details for the management of an undeveloped airport business park project at its Monday meeting.  

    The park, which is planned for an area near the Lancaster County Airport, would be similar in infrastructure to industrial parks in Heath Springs and Kershaw, though on a much larger scale, said County Administrator Steve Willis in a memo to council. Willis said there is a need for a project manager due to the size of the project and the need to coordinate with private landowners. 

  • Man charged with attempted murder

     An apparent dispute about a car battery has landed a Lancaster man in jail on felony charges.

    Dontae Lavar Thompson, 33, 936 16th St., was charged last week with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.

    Lancaster County sheriff’s deputies came to 950 15th St. shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday in response to a call about a shooting there.
