• Man suffers fatal injuries in single-vehicle accident

    A 58-year-old man died as the result of a single-vehicle accident south of Lancaster Friday night.
    Meanwhile, a 42-year-old Van Wyck woman critically injured in a motorcycle accident June 16 has died.
    S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Billy Elder said the accident Friday night occurred at 8:35 on New Hope Road approximately 5 miles south of Lancaster.
    The man's name was not available as of press time Saturday.

    Two Lancaster men were arrested Thursday, June 21, in connection with the abduction of a newspaper carrier in Fort Mill earlier this week.
    Trumane Tee Daniel, 27, 1164 Chase Madison Drive, and Jeremy Lechloe Thomas, 23, Carolina Court, were each charged with armed robbery, though more charges are expected, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office press release.

    A Lancaster man found murdered in his York Street home Monday evening may have been shot and his home ransacked, according to a Lancaster Police Department media report  released Thursday morning.
    Lancaster police officers found 53-year-old Donald Eustace Morris dead in his home at 307 S. York St. about 8:30 p.m. Monday.

    Officers responded to the assault at McDonald’s, 316 S.C. 9 Bypass, at 11:30 p.m. June 11, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.

  • Van Wyck woman hurt in bike wreck

    A Van Wyck woman was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on S.C. 5 (Rock Hill Highway) on Saturday, June 16.
    Jamisala Gray, 42, of the 6400 block of Charlotte Highway, was hurt in the wreck.
    S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Billy Elder said the accident occurred about 4:45 p.m. as Gray rode a 1997 Kawasaki motorcycle west on S.C. 5.
    Elder said as Gray approached the intersection, Jason Graham of Rock Hill, driving east in a four-door Kia, tried to turn left in front of Gray onto Steele Hill Road.

    An Indian Land man with Alzheimer’s who went missing Monday night, was found Tuesday night in Charlotte.
    Joe Lee Pressley, 81, drove his white Chevrolet pickup truck away from his Shelley Mullis Road home about 11:30 p.m. Monday, June 18, telling his wife, Kathleen, he “had to go home.” He was last seen heading toward U.S. 521.

    KERSHAW – Haile Gold Mine Inc. has asked Kershaw for a little help in monitoring activity along its 4,000-acre site east of the town limits.
    Town of Kershaw Administrator Bryan Pettit told council members Monday, June 18, that Romarco Minerals, Haile Gold Mine’s parent company, was seeking permission from the town to install an antenna on one of its water towers.

  • Man arrested for cutting girlfriend

    A Lancaster man was arrested this week after he chased a woman and cut her face with a knife.
    Willie James Stevens, 29, 1331 Spanish Villa Apartment B, was arrested Wednesday, June 20, and charged with high and aggravated assault and battery in connection with a domestic assault that happened only minutes earlier, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office press release.

  • Missing IL man found safe

    An Indian Land man with Alzheimer’s who went missing on Monday was found Tuesday night. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police found Joe Lee Pressley, 81, on Starbrook Drive in Charlotte. He was not injured, but taken to a hospital as a precaution, according to Matt Shaw, undersheriff with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
    Kathleen Pressley said her husband left their home at 9021 Shelly Mullis Road driving his white 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck about 11:30 p.m. Monday, June 18.
