Lancaster County has seen some rain in recent days, but residents are still being asked to conserve water.

The Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group recommends the region continue the current Stage 3 water restrictions implemented last fall to ensure an adequate water supply is available.  In their implementation of Stage 3 water restrictions, most public water systems in the river basin are prohibiting lawn watering.

INDIAN LAND – A nuclear energy construction company is moving its headquarters into the former offices of HSBC Mortgage Services in Indian Land.

URS Corp. announced Friday that the company’s Washington Division has opened the URS Nuclear Center in Indian Land, which will serve as the headquarters for the Washington Division’s commercial nuclear energy engineering and construction business. The new office complements the division’s existing offices focused on the nuclear market in Princeton, N.J., and Aiken.

A gunshot that almost hit an officer during an event Friday night at the American Legion building was among more than 10 shots that were fired within the city that night.

A party at the American Legion on South Main Street was shut down about midnight after someone fired a shot inside the building, according to Lancaster police.

The bullet hit a chair about a foot from where a Lancaster police officer was standing.

That officer and another on-duty Lancaster police officer were patrolling the building because of the large crowd.
