What was once a stalled and deteriorating Indian Land development is seeing continued signs of rebirth, as county officials recently approved funding to help another portion of the Walnut Creek neighborhood.
At Lancaster County Council’s Feb. 13 meeting, County Administrator Steve Willis presented a proposal from the county’s Recreation Department to buy maintenance equipment for the recreation facility at Walnut Creek, the development formerly known as Edenmoor.

To the group of men huddled near the entrance of Camp Creek Volunteer Fire Department, their fallen comrade was simply known as “Little Bill.”
The firefighters took turns sharing memories Monday afternoon about their friend and colleague William Blackmon III, who died early Saturday morning after falling from a moving pickup truck.
He was 23 years old.

Rucker Middle School girls basketball coach Ashley Price calls her Lady Rams’ team “a special group.”
How special?
Well, for the last two seasons, the Lady Rams are a most impressive 27-0 on the hardwood.
That’s a stunning 27-oh! The 2011 team went 13-0 and the 2012 squad was 14-0.
Price is right. That’s special.
Then throw in the fact that the Lady Rams’ volleyball team, which Price guided, went unbeaten last fall and that’s extra special.

A cloud of sadness hung over the University of South Carolina Lancaster campus Friday.
Faculty members and students walked from one building to the next, somberly discussing the unfortunate accident the night before that seriously injured one of their own – Dr. Nathalie Davaut.  
Davaut, who teaches French and Spanish at USCL, was struck by a pickup truck as she was crossing Hubbard Drive. Dr. Darris Hassell, one of her foreign language colleagues, said he was shaken when he learned about the accident later that night.
