    Isaac Evans, 58, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007.

    Born April 12, 1949 in Lancaster, he was the son of Annie Belk Evans and the late Eugene Evans. He was educated in the Lancaster County schools and was a 1967 graduate of Buford High School. He attended Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill.

    Born Jan. 11, 1948, in Charlottesville, Va., he was the son of the late William Gordon Stepp and Wilma Irene Nunley Stepp. He was a 1966 graduate of McMinnville City High School in McMinnville, Tenn., and was a 1970 graduate of Tennessee Tech. in Cookville, Tenn. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity, Zeta Apsilon Chapter.

He worked for Perception Builders as a job superintendent. He was a member of the Lancaster County Home Builders Association and a licensed building contractor. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, the Loyal Order of Moose and a Vietnam Army Veteran.

    Born April 1, 1920, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Fred Nathaniel Gay and Mary Beatrice Dominey Gay. She was a retired accountant for Springs Industries. She was married to the late Vernice James Powers.

    RICHBURG – James B. “Slick” Dunham, 71, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007.Born March 13, 1936, in Chester County, he was a son of the late Ernest Dunham and Carrie McMullen Dunham. He attended public schools in Chester Count. He was a former textile worker and a retired self-employed logger. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Methodist Church in Catawba.

    Carolyn Elizabeth Wright, 60, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007.

    Born July 8, 1947, in Chester, she was the daughter of Mary Henson Wright and the late Broadus Lee Wright. She was a member of the West Side Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

    Survivors include her mother of Lancaster; three brothers, Broadus “Buck” Wright of Lancaster, Gene Wright of Apex, N.C., and Kenneth Wright of Las Cruces, N.M.; and two sisters, Mary Ann Small of Indian Land and Linda Steele of Lancaster.

    OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - James “Chief” Gainey, 73 formerly of Kershaw, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Sam and Garfielia Gainey. He was married to Clara Catoe Gainey. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service as chief petty officer of radio operations. He served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was retired from Pratt Whitney after 21 years of service as a materials research and development technician. He was a member of the VFW and the Radio Club of Okeechobee.
