    FORT LAWN - Larry Wayne Sims, 59, died Saturday, June 8, 2008.

    Born Dec. 12, 1948, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Beatrice Boone Hunter. He was a member of Fort Lawn Baptist Church. He was married to Brenda Gaston Sims. He was retired from Genpak LLC and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.

    Thomas Winford Carter, 73, died Saturday, June 7, 2008.

    Born Sept. 3, 1934, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., he was a son of the late Johnny Waylon and Lena C. Carter. He was married to Myrtice Carter. He attended Freedom Freewill Baptist Church and was formerly a minister.

    Survivors include his mother, Nancy Gray Austin.

    Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Fort Mill Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Larry Harrison.

    Vistation will follow services.

    VAN WYCK – John Edwin Nisbet, 58, died Thursday, June 5, 2008.

    Born April 21, 1950, in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late William Oliver Nisbet and Ida Jones Quintard Nisbet. He was a graduate of Winthrop University with a bachelor's degree in education and received his master's degree from Western Carolina University. He was a guidance counselor for Waxhaw Elementary School and was previously the assistant principal at Woodfin Elementary School in Buncombe County, N.C. He was a member of Van Wyck Presbyterian Church.

    Charles Douglas "Bill" Belk Sr., 69, died Saturday, June 7, 2008.

    Born March 17, 1939, in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Charlie Odell Belk and Beatrice Wright Belk. He was married to the late Vernell Ellis Belk. He was a member of the New Life Free Will Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.

    Sandra Jean "Sandy" Ellis, 37, died Friday, June 6, 2008.

    Born Sept. 29, 1970, in Lancaster, she was a daughter of Sandra Kay Catoe Bradley and Larry Eugene Ellis.

    Survivors include her mother and father; her stepmother, Debbie R. Ellis; a brother, Mark Lewis Ellis and his wife, Tammy, of Lancaster; and two sisters, Angela Kay Thomas and her husband, James, of Radcliff, Ky., and Mandy Lynn Ellis and her fiance, Sam Cannon, of Heath Springs.

    Born Aug. 12, 1980, in Lancaster County, he was the son of Roger Wayne Greene Sr. and Teresa Hensley Greene Hopkins. He was married to Angela Lynn Greene. He was formerly employed with Chicago Pneumatics in Rock Hill.

    Survivors include his wife; two sons, Austin Wayne Greene and Justin Tyler Greene, both of Lancaster; his father and stepmother, Silva S. Greene, of Fort Lawn; his mother; and two sisters, April Collins and April Barr.

    Curlee Oliver, 94, died Sunday, June 1, 2008.

    Born Feb. 10, 1914, in Beaufort County, he was the son of the late Robert and Annie Oliver. He was married to the late Ruth Clinton Oliver. He was a barber and was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

    Survivors include a daughter, Canova Thompson of Kershaw; a foster sister, Elizabeth Izzard of Kershaw; four grandchildren, Bradford Thompson of Philadelphia, Rodney Thompson of Lancaster, Minister Terry Thompson of Lancaster and Nico Perry of Kershaw.
