    Mary Harrington Steele, 97
    DUE WEST – Mary Harrington Steele, 97, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at the Carlisle Nursing Center.
    Mrs. Steele was born in Lee County, N.C., the daughter of Raymond and Dora Bell Black Harrington. Educated in Lee County schools in Sanford, N.C., she was a graduate of Elon College and Florida Southern College. She taught school in North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. Mrs. Steele was a member of Due West Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

    Jackie Maurice Lindsay Sr., 51, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012.
    He was the son of Nettie Springs Lindsay and the late George Lindsay Sr.
    Survivors include his mother of Lancaster; two sons, Jackie Lindsay Jr. and Kaleti Lindsay of Chula Vista, Calif.; five brothers, George Lindsay Jr., Lafayette Lindsay Sr, Otis Lindsay, all of Charlotte and, Phillip Lindsay of Lancaster; Lewis Lindsay Sr. of Fort Mill; three sisters, Daisy Cuthbertson and Ruthie Morrison of Monroe and Frances Lindsay-Tyson of Lancaster.

  • Ruth Wright Hunter, 80

    Ruth Wright Hunter, 80, of Lancaster passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born August 19, 1931, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late William Albert Wright and Hattie Pitts Wright. Mrs. Hunter was a very active member of Canaan Freewill Baptist Church. After her retirement from Springs Industries, she developed a passion for pre-school children and spent the remainder of her working years as a pre-school teacher at First Baptist Church in Lancaster.

  • Shepard Cornelius Duncan, 40

    Shepard Cornelius Duncan, 40, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
    He was the son of the Rev. Thomas C. and Rev. Theresa Anthony Duncan. He was married to Rachel Ballard Duncan.
    Survivors include his wife; three sons, Samorion Duncan, Rasheed Ballard and Jatarious Ballard, all of Kershaw; a daughter, Kamesha Duncan of Elizabeth Town, Ky.; his parents of Kershaw; a brother, Reggie Witherspoon of Bishopville; two sisters, Stephanie D Thompson of Kershaw and Tiffany Crockett of Rock Hill; and father-in-law, Ernest Ballard of Heath Springs.

  • Patricia Ann Thompson, 70   

    Mrs. Patricia Ann “Pat” Thompson, 70, of Lancaster passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born April 6, 1941, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Charles William Lewis Snipes and Doris Mae Johnston Snipes. She was a member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church. Mrs. Thompson had retired from Rhodes Furniture Company. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother. She enjoyed sending birthday cards to family and friends. She was an avid reader who enjoyed poetry.

  • Bennett “Junior” Pegram, 86

    Mr. Bennett “Junior” Pegram, 86, of Lancaster, widower of Margaret J. Pegram, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012. at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Lancaster, a son of the late Bennett Joe Pegram and Mamie McClain Pegram. Mr. Pegram had retired from Springs Industries following 37 years of service.

    Mrs. Patricia Branham Fields, age 69, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1942, in Bishopville, S.C., the daughter of the late Vernon Branham and Lois Ray Branham and was the wife of the late Wayne M. Fields.
    Mrs. Fields was the former owner of MacFields Supply Company and a member of Covenant Baptist Church.
