  • Mary Alice Carter

    Mary Alice Carter died Sunday, March 11, 2012.
    She was the daughter of the late Catherine Cook Cauthen.
    Survivors include a brother, Joe Louis Cauthen of Kershaw; and three sisters, Blanch Battie, Orenthia Smith and Gladdis Clark, all of Philadelphia.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. today, March 16, 2012, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Kershaw, conducted by the Rev. James Belton, with burial in Highland Heights Cemetery.
    The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
    Kirkland-McCray Funeral Home is in charge.

  • Claude William ‘Bo’ Bostic, 82

    Claude William “Bo” Bostic, 82, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., the son of the late Ernest Leonard Bostic and Ida Wray Bostic and was the husband of Catherine “Judy” Stewart Bostic.  Mr. Bostic retired from Springs Industries, was of the Baptist faith and served our great country in the U.S. Navy after World War II.

    Thomas Rufus Moser, 51, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Agape Hospice in Rock Hill. He was born Jan. 15, 1961, in Monroe, N.C., a son of Clifford “Buck” Moser and Sue Blackmon Stewart.  Mr. Moser loved his family and loved the outdoors and fishing. He was a perfectionist when it came to drywall. Mr. Moser loved spending time with his son Tristian; his brother, Jeff and especially his grandson, Cael.

    Eula Watts Helms, 87, died Sunday, March 11, 2012.
    She was a daughter of the late Sam Watts and the late Dora Horne Watts.
    Survivors include two sons, James Helms of Pageland, and Carl Helms of Lancaster;  five; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. today, March 14, 2012, at Oak HIll Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Cliff Henson and Dulan Mills, with burial in the church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.

    GREAT FALLS – Randy Carnell Culp, 55, died Friday, March 9, 2012.
    He was the son of the late Barbara Ann Culp Caldwell and the late Larry Caldwell.
    Survivors include two sons, Randrico Craig of Richburg and Korey Bailey of Great Falls; three grandchildren, Zyonna Moore, Xavier Moore, both of Great Falls and Kaleb Craig of Richburg; and a brother, Ronald Culp of the home.

    Everette Coates, 89
    Everette Coates died March 10, 2012 at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.
    Born April 10, 1922, he was the second child of the late Mamie Robinson Coates and Dexter Hardin Coates. He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Jewett (Mike) of Lancaster; and a sister, Robbie Coates Gardner, of Columbia.
    He was predeceased by his sister, Juanita Gordon; his wife of 68 years, Myra Huntley Coates; and a brother, who died in infancy.

    He was the son of the late Joseph and Maggie Adams Brown.
    Survivors include a daughter, Wendy Brown of Monroe; a sister, Ellaree Young of New York, N.Y.; a brother, Jimmy Brown of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. today, March 14, 2012, at Crawford Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Charles Crockett and Johnny Brown, with burial in Mount Moriah AME Zion Church Cemetery.
