    ROCK HILL – Clifford L. "Mac" McCants, 66, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009.

    He was the son of the late James S. McCants and the late Flossie Collins McCants. He was married to Marsha Hunt McCants.

    Wayne Broome Sr. 59, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009.

    He was the son of the late John C. Broome and Elize Randall Broome. 

  • Betty Linda 'Bootsie' Faile

    Betty Linda “Bootsie” Faile, 67, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 25, 1942, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Gilbert Faile and Ann Starnes Faile. Bootsie had retired from Springs Industries and also from Blackmon’s Kiddie Land.

    A service to celebrate the life of Ms. Faile will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home.

  • Cora Pauline Smith Adkins

    INDIAN LAND – Cora Pauline Smith Adkins died Wednesday Dec. 23, 2009. Born in Chester,  she was a daughter of the late Ulis Garland and Edna Bryant Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Adkins Sr.

    Survivors include a daughter, Myra Ramsey of Indian Land; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

    Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Michael Ritter.

    The family will receive friends following services.

    PAGELAND – Martha Williams Fiebig, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009.  

    Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Pageland. Visitation is 1:30 until the time of services at the church.

    Lancey Stratford Jr., 78, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009. Born May 26, 1931, in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Lancey and Mable Coffee Stratford. He was married to the late Eunice McGee and later married the late Mary Burnes.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at White Oak AME Zion Church, conducted by the Rev. Alan Stewart, with burial in Green Hill Cemetery in Fort Mill. Viewing will be Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at Crawford Funeral Home from 1 to 7 p.m.

    KERSHAW – A service of worship celebrating the life of Robert Lewis “R.L.” Vincent, 81, will be held Monday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Kershaw. Burial will be private in Kershaw City Cemetery.  

  • Ret. Colonel Richard H. Auman, 72

    FORT MILL –  Ret. Colonel Richard H. Auman, 72, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009. Born April 12, 1937, in Port Carbon, Pa., he was the son of Mildred Harris Auman and the late Russel Auman. He was married to Susan Herr Auman.

    Survivors include his mother of Pottsville, Pa.; his wife of the home; two sons, David Auman of Richmond, Va., and Kenneth Auman of Simsbury, Conn.; two step-daughters, Lisa Ryhlick of Trabuca Canyon, Calif., and Karen Lopez of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

  • Lewis James McIlwaine, 77

    Lewis James McIlwaine, 77, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, in Philadelphia, Pa. Born Dec. 20, 1932, in Union County, N.C., he was a son of the late Hillard and Rebecca Flannigan.

    Survivors include five sons, Melvin McIwlaine, Ray McIlwaine, Raeford McIlwaine, Kenneth McIlwaine and David McIlwaine, all of Philadelphia; six daughters, Rita McIlwaine, Linda McIlwaine, Cindy McIlwaine, Dinah McIlwaine, Elaine McIlwaine and Patricia McIlwaine, all of Philadelphia; his fiancée, Lundeen Cureton of Waxhaw; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

    Randall Lynn Baker, 33, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 at his home. He was born July 22, 1976 in Lancaster, a son of Melinda Steen McDonald and the late Randy Lynn Baker.
