  • Mattie Seegars, 96

    KERSHAW – Graveside services for Mattie Seegars, 96, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Kershaw City Cemetery. The Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate.

    Miss Seegars passed away Thursday evening March 18, at the home of her beloved niece, Elizabeth Kahn in Woodway, Texas.

    Broadus Henry Ghent, 89, died Sunday, March 21, 2010.  

    Born Nov. 14, 1920, in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Millan Ghent and Ada Carter Ghent.   

    Survivors include three nieces.

    Private services will be held at a later date.

    Memorials may be made to Center Grove Baptist Church, 236 Scout Cabin Road, Kershaw, SC 29067.

    KERSHAW – Funeral services for Donnie Marshall Haigler Sr., 68, formerly of Mint Hill, N.C., will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 21, at Oakhurst Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. John Rogers and Donald Lisk will officiate.

    Mr. Haigler died Friday, March 19, 2010, at his home. He was the son of the late Charles McKee and Sarah Smith Haigler. He was the owner/operator of Mint Hill Paving and a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church.

    Fred Eli Pittman, died Thursday, March 18, 2010.

    He was the son of Dorothy Meadows Pittman and the late Fred Clyburn Pittman. He was married to Rachel Doby Pittman.

    Survivors include his wife; his mother; two brothers, Paul Pittman of Huntsville, Ala., and Ronnie Pittman of Dallas, N.C.; and two sisters, Evon Jackson of Lugoff and Joyce Bell of Great Falls.

    Services will be private.

    Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge.

  • Mary Ann Albert Kurtz, 76

    Mary Ann Albert Kurtz, 76, died Friday, March 19, 2010.

    Born Jan. 4, 1934, in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Anton Albert and Mary Teuber. She was married to the late Hank Kurtz.

    Survivors include a daughter, Diane; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Anton Albert.

    Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at Messiah Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Tim Baldinger. Her ashes will be scattered in the ocean.

    Memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lancaster.
