    George Randall “Randy” Bowers, 56, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011.

  • Timothy Jack “T.J.” Looper Jr., 16

     

    Timothy Jack “T.J.” Looper Jr., 16,  died Monday Jan. 24, 2011, as the result of an automobile accident. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Revs. Patrick Blackmon and Kenneth Compton officiating. Interment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls. 

  • Louise Seagraves Wilkins, 73

    LAURINBURG, NC – Louise Seagraves Wilkins, 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011.

    Survivors include her children, Edward Wilkins Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Lancaster, Mary Ann Chavis of Gibson N.C., Irene Jernigan of Laurinburg, Darrell Wilkins  of Gibson, Joseph Wilkins of Laurel Hill, Geraldine Sessoms of Hamlet, N.C.; half brothers, Roy Locklear and Steve Locklear of Laurinburg; half sister, Marie Sanders of Laurel Hill; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

  • Roscoe Hood Sr., 84

    WAXHAW, NC – Roscoe Hood Sr., 84, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, N.C.

    Survivors include two sons, Roscoe C. Hood Jr., and Gerald C. Hood, both of Charlotte; and two sisters, Euphemia Thompson of Washington, D.C., and Jessie H. Peaks of Baltimore, Md.

    Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Waxhaw, with interment at Bethel Church Cemetery in Waxhaw.

    Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the church prior to services.

  • David Crane, 40

    David Crane, 40, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, after a battle with cancer at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, N.C. He was a native of Charlotte and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Clara Hullender Crane.

     David is survived by his wife of 10 years, Brandon Smith Crane of Lancaster; two sons, Taylor Lindsay and Johnathon Catoe of Lancaster; two sisters, Rhonda Downing of Hendersonville, N.C., Sharon Barrett and her husband, Craig, of Dallas, N.C.; four nephews and two nieces.

  • Alfred “Freddie” Lee Byrdic, 58

     

    Alfred “Freddie” Lee Byrdic, 58, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 26, 2011. 

    He was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Lancaster County, the son of Bobby Lee Byrdic and Mary Sue Cooper Byrdic and was the husband of Jeanette Sellers Byrdic. Mr. Byrdic worked for 30 years for Lehigh Lancaster now Thomas & Betts and more recently with Leiner Health Products. After being disabled in 2008 with a pulmonary fibrosis diagnosis, Freddie enjoyed quality time with his family and most importantly with his grandson Taylor.

  • Emory Gaston Bell, 86

    HEATH SPRINGS – Emory Gaston Bell, 86, widower of the late Nell Cauthen Bell, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.  He was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Lancaster, a son of the late James “Jim” Bell and Annie Bell Harper Bell.

    She the daughter of Della Hatcher Drake and the late Joseph Newland and was the wife of James Wozniczka.
