  • James E. and Amy S. Linkletter of Lugoff and Peter V. and Anne R. Davis of Atlanta announce the engagement of their daughter, Hannah E. Linkletter, to Garrett T. Hoffman, both of Rock Hill.
    The wedding is planned for 4 p.m. May 31, 2014, at Hightower Hall at Brattonsville in McConnells.
    Miss Linkletter is the granddaughter of Helen V. Davis of Atlanta. She is a 2007 graduate of Chester High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Winthrop University in 2013. She is a financial representative.

  • The Rev. and Mrs. Shelley Roach of Manning announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Roach, to Garrett Hammond, both of Lancaster.

    The wedding is planned for 5 p.m. May 31, 2014, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Lancaster.

  • Jamie and Patty Miller announce the engagement of their daughter, Marisa Miller, to Cody Huneycutt, all of Lancaster.
    The wedding is planned for 2 p.m. Feb. 1, 2014, at Second Baptist Church of Lancaster.
    Miss Miller is the granddaughter of Dalton and Mary Miller of Lancaster, John and Shelia Jarrell of Estill and the late Marilyn Jarrell.
    She is a 2010 graduate of Lancaster High School and received a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from the University of South Carolina in 2013.

  • W.J. “Dub” and Joyce Hunter Snipes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 26, 2013.
    A party in their honor was given by their children on Oct. 19, 2013.
    The couple has two children, Calvin Snipes and his wife Kim and Lisa S. Moree and her husband Danny. They have three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    Dub is a retired brick mason and runs a salvage yard. Joyce is a home maker.

  • Billie Joe Snipes and Dustin Linn Arant were married Oct. 4, 2013, in Myrtle Beach by the Rev. Calvin Snipes, father of the bride.
    The bride is the daughter of the Rev. Calvin and Kim Snipes of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Dub and Joyce Snipes of Lancaster and of the late Coy and Hannah McNeil. She is a 1999 graduate of Buford High School and attended York Technical College. She works as a cake decorator at Food Lion.

  • Katherine Anne Small and Richard Turner Walters were married Aug. 24, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Lancaster by the Rev. Charles Phillips.

    Nature lovers can become certified S.C. Master Naturalists and join a regional corps of citizen scientists by attending a weekly environmental training course beginning in March at the Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill.

    The Catawba Master Naturalist Program teaches participants how to explore the world around them, identify plants and animals, and better understand ecological concepts they can apply through volunteering in their communities.

    The fellowship hall at Mount Zion AME Zion Church overflowed with attendees of all ages at the first Town Hall Meeting sponsored by the Lancaster Branch of the NAACP on Dec. 12.  

    Nearly one hundred people met to present their views on the subject “Crime Watch:  Saving Our Youth.”

    It’s a cool fall morning in October, and once again streets are closed across South Carolina as runners race another 5K.

    These runners rise with the sun to run in one of the many races available on any given weekend. They run to exercise, lose weight and even make friends.
