  • Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Harper Burns celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 10, 2014. Mrs. Burns is the former Brenda Elaine Cauthen.
    They were married on May 10, 1964, at First United Methodist Church in Lancaster.
    A 1959 graduate of Lancaster Senior High School, Mr. Burns served in the United States Marine Corps and retired after 34 years of service at Glidden Paint Company in Columbia.
    A 1962 graduate of Heath Springs High School, Mrs. Burns retired as a home health care provider and a certified lay preacher in the United Methodist Church.

  • Sheena Elizabeth Pope and Chad Thomas Laxton were married May 17, 2014, at Fairview Presbyterian Church in Fountain Inn by Dr. Thomas Terry of Blackville.
    The bride is the daughter of Mike and Ginger Pope of Monroe, formerly of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Amelia Gardner of Lancaster and the late Bruce Gardner and of the late Marvin and Ethel Pope. She is a 2003 graduate of Seneca High School and a 2010 graduate of Lander University with a bachelor’s degree in English. She works at Clemson University in the Clemson LIFE program.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Warren Swann of Callao, Va., announce the engagement of their daughter, Hillary Brooke Swann, to Heath Corey Spivey, both of Charlotte.
    The wedding is planned for August.
    Miss Swann is a 2005 graduate of Northumberland High School. She received a softball scholarship to East Carolina University and graduated in 2009 with a degree in sports management. She works for Europa Sports Products in Charlotte.

  • Angela Barber and Reggie Harris, both of Lancaster, announce the engagement of their daughter, LeQuisha Danyelle Barber, to Benjamin Williams III of Columbia.
    The wedding is planned for 3 p.m. June 21, 2014, at New Zion Baptist Church in Lancaster.

  • Buddy and Sabrina Wade of Fort Mill announce the engagement of their daughter, Kirstin Wade of Columbia, to Russell Lee Dippel of Lancaster.
    The wedding is planned for 5 p.m. June 28, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Lancaster.
    Miss Wade is a 2006 graduate of Fort Mill High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in education.
    She is a kindergarten teacher at Lake Murray Elementary in Chapin.
    Mr. Dippel is the son of Tim and Carolyn Dippel of Lancaster.
