    Words alone could not describe the atmosphere that surrounded the 16th biennial Lancaster Training School/Barr Street High School class of 1963 reunion, held July 5-7 at the Hilton Hotel in Charlotte Executive Park.

    The LTS/BSHS reunion is held every two years, and this was my first time attending with my sister, who graduated in 1959.

  • Heather Nicole Blackwell and James Wallace Storey were married at 6 p.m. Aug. 3, 2013 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Greenville by pastor Eric Fink.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wallace Blackwell of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earle Bedenbaugh of Prosperity and of Naomi Blackwell Sims of Lancaster and the late Clyde Blackwell. She earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from Clemson University and a doctorate of physical therapy from

  • Breanna Nicole Poston and Roger Dale Hinson Jr. were married March 30, 2013, at The Dooley Farm by Randy Mellichamp.
    The bride is the daughter of Douglas and Lisa Poston Jr. of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Billy Ray and Sarah Jenkins of Lancaster and of the late Erline and Douglas Poston Sr. She is a 2010 graduate of Buford High School and earned a degree in medical assisting in 2012. She works at Meeting Street Dentistry as a receptionist.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sherman of Hahira, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Kimberly M. Sherman, to William L. Jackson, both of Seneca.
    The wedding is planned for 7 p.m. Sept. 21, 2013, at Old Stone Church in Clemson.

  • Joe and Rhonda Humphries announce the engagement of their daughter, McKenzie Humphries, to Justin Medlin, all of Lancaster.
    The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. August 24, 2013 at Coker Ranch.
    Miss Humphries is the granddaughter of Jesse and Gladys Humphries and Hazel Roberts. She is a 2008 graduate of Lancaster High School and attended the University of South Carolina Lancaster. She is self-employed and owns her own business.

  • Members of Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church, 912 Clinton Ave., will celebrate one of their own Thursday, Aug. 15, through Saturday, Aug. 17, with a music workshop.

    The event will honor church elder Dolores C. Hudson.

    Hudson, a longtime member of Pleasant Ridge, has been involved with the music program at the church for nearly 70 years.

    Miss Jackson is the granddaughter of Charles and Janice Mathis and Bob and Pat Jackson, all of Lancaster. She is a 2007 graduate of Buford High School and is a stay-at-home mother.
