  • IL fire district board to meet

    The Indian Land Fire Protection District Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Indian Land Volunteer Fire Department, 185 Six Mile Creek Road.

  • The Red Rose City was rocking to smooth reggae last weekend, as more than 40 people streamed into Chastain’s Studio Lofts on Main Street to hear Lancaster’s five-man band Sugarshine.

    The roots reggae ensemble are lifelong friends and range in age from 27 to 44. The members have played in various bands together through the years. But this combination seems a bit magical to them.

    “We knew we had something special,” said Stuart Parsons, 41, keyboard player. 

  • Former Lancaster High star basketball player Ron Trapps has returned to Lancaster after earning two college degrees to give back to the community where he was raised.

    Trapps, 24, is Palmetto Citizens Against Sexual Assault’s new Engaging Men Project coordinator.

    The result of a three-year, $346,680 federal grant, the Engaging Men Project aims to educate young men on sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking. The grant will fund training, forums and annual men’s conferences.

  • Donna and Jeff Moree of Heath Springs and Mikey Keye of Lancaster announce the engagement of their daughter, Autumn Elizabeth Keye, to Daniel Dale Stewart, both of Lancaster.

    The wedding is planned for 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in Waxhaw, N.C.

  • Dr. and Mrs. Sunil Vishin Lalla of Pawleys Island are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Grace Lalla, to Robert Morgan Tinsley, both of Cambridge, Mass.

    The wedding is planned for 5 p.m. April 14, 2018 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church, with a reception at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club.

  •  Ms. Jennifer Long Warlick of Chapin and Mr. Van Warlick of Murrells Inlet announce the engagement of their daughter, Candice Brooke Warlick, to Gavin Donnom Witherspoon Jr., both of Charlotte.

  • Jordan Leigh Bright and Matthew Neil Nichols were married August 5, 2017 at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church in Union.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth W. Bright of Union. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lancaster, the late Paul Eubanks, Mr. Wayne Bright and the late Mrs. Wanda Bright, all of Union. 

  • Bethany Ryan Dadisman and Nicholas John Ferguson were married July 28, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin by the Rev. Dennis Willey.
