    Beverly Cialone was sitting in her cubicle at her work study job at York Tech in 2002 when her office manager stopped by and casually asked Cialone what her career plans were.

    “I’m going to be an author,” Cialone said.

    “Don’t you think it’s time to put away childish dreams?” the manager asked, with a smirk on her face.

    In her early 30s, Cialone had never considered her dreams “childish.”

  • Albrey Leigh Pittman and Braeden Patrick Evans were married Aug. 3, 2013, at The Ivy Place by the Rev. Wayne Dickson.
    The bride is the daughter of Dell Pittman and Steve and Crystal Hinson, all of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Joey and Sherry Hensley and of Wayne and Karen Craig, all of Lancaster. She is a 2009 graduate of Lancaster High School and works for Advance America as a customer service representative.

  • Jack and Jackie Starnes of Kershaw announce the engagement of their daughter, Kayla Starnes, to Jordan Adams, both of Lancaster.
    The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. April 26, 2014, at Old McCaskills Farm in Rembert.
    Miss Starnes is the granddaughter of Mary Starnes and the late James F. Starnes and of the late Jack and Lois Driggers. She is a 2006 graduate of Pensacola Christian School and a 2008 graduate of LeGrand Institute of Cosmetology. She works as a cosmetologist.

  • Sheila and Dale Starnes and Russell and Jennifer Ferguson announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Marie Ferguson, to Travis Cory Payne, all of Lancaster.
    The wedding is planned for 7 p.m. June 6, 2014.
    Miss Ferguson is the granddaughter of Rex and Bobbie Faile and of Barbara Ferguson and the late Wendell Ferguson. She is a 2006 graduate of Buford High School and works at Faulkner Animal Hospital.

  • Marla Lynette Caskey and Steven Andrew Musselwhite were married at 2 p.m. June 15, 2013, at First ARP Church in Lancaster by the Rev. Ken Hughes.
    The bride is the daughter of Mark and Lynda Caskey of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Clyde and Faye Caskey of Lancaster, and Gene and Helen Jordan of Edgemoor. She is a 2013 graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She works as a registered nurse at Roper St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

  • Alison Marie Mielke and David Lawrence Laroche were married Sept. 14, 2013, at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill by Pastor Philip Bunch.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Arnold Mielke of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Juanita Mielke of Lancaster and the late Arnold Mielke, and Edna Inez McCorkle of Lancaster and the late Cleatus McCorkle.
    She is a 1999 graduate of Lancaster High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in 2003. She works for Travelers Insurance.

  • Jaime-Leigh Johnson and Austin Jerel Bailey were married at 2 p.m. Dec. 7, 2013, at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Lancaster by the Rev. Cliff Henson.
    The bride is the daughter of Rex and Lori Johnson of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Dalton and Mary Miller, and Eloise Johnson, all of Lancaster, and the late Henry Johnson. She is the great-granddaughter of Mary T. Miller of Lancaster.

  • Elizabeth Bree Land Mahoney and Lt.j.g. David George Boyer were married March 15, 2014, at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark J. Mahoney of Aiken. She is the granddaughter of Mary Jo Wilson and Jean Mahoney, both of Aiken. She is a 2009 graduate of Aiken High School and a graduate of the University of South Carolina Honors College with a degree in public relations. She works for the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce.
