Mental illness is a subject that has become less taboo in recent years, and a Heath Springs man has written a book on the topic, in the hopes of helping others who struggle with it.

At 67, this is Mike Addison’s first published book, and is entitled “The Life Boat – One Man’s Journey with Mental Illness.”

It chronicles Addison’s 50-year struggle with a chemical imbalance, depression/anxiety disorder and severe obsessive compulsive disorder.

CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern University recently recognized Robert H. “Bobby” Edwards of Lancaster for his years of service to the University, most recently as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Edwards, president and owner of Catawba Fish Camp, 6131 Lancaster Highway, Fort Lawn, has been a longtime supporter of the university and has served in numerous capacities, including: the Board of Trustees, the Board of Visitors and the Buccaneer Club Board of Directors.

GREAT FALLS – The Bible tells us of a crucifixion that took place nearly 2,000 years ago on a hill called Golgotha in Jerusalem.

Three men were crucified on wooden crosses placed on the hillside.

On one cross was a vile, arrogant man who was completely unremorseful for any wrongdoing. On the other cross hung a man who was guilty of a crime but sought repentance and mercy and found it.

On the center cross hung Jesus Christ who was completely innocent of any crime or action that was considered sin.

Something “Strange and Unusual” may be coming to downtown Chester next month.

At its last meeting, Chester City Council discussed a request from Visionscape Media to film portions of a feature-length film in downtown Chester. Anil Dhokai is the writer and director of the movie, which has the working title “The Strange and Unusual.”

“It’s a feature-length movie about a supernatural TV reality show that is being cancelled,” Dhokai said.
