Clayton and Patricia C. Carnes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2013, with a party at the Historic Lancaster County Courthouse given by their children.
They were married July 4, 1963, in Lancaster.
They have two children, Scott Carnes and his wife, Linda, and Stefanie Carnes Stacks and her husband, Blake, and five grandchildren.
Clayton retired from the S.C. National Guard, from the S.C. Department of Corrections and from Joslyn Clark Control. Patricia is a Mack Truck Inc. retiree.

The bride is the daughter of Vernon and Teresa Hallman of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of George Howle of Lancaster and the late Willene Griffin Howle and of Wilda Sturgis Hallman of Lancaster and the late Kenneth Hallman. She is a 2005 graduate of Buford High School and a 2012 graduate of the South Carolina College of Pharmacy. She works for CVS as a pharmacist.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William August Fox, III of Matthews, N.C.. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Margaret Shalenik Fox of Lancaster and the late Mr. William August Fox II and of the late Mr. William Jackson McMurray and the late Mrs. Doris McDonald McMurray.

The bride is the daughter of Randy and Mindy Watts of Lancaster and Bass and Denise Murray of Shelby. She is a graduate of Cleveland Community College and works for Carolinas Healthcare System.
The groom is the son of Bill and Suzette Murphy of Lancaster and Mike and Patti Johnson of Frederick, Colo. He is a police academy graduate and works in law enforcement.

She is a 2009 graduate of Buford High School and received a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from the University of South Carolina Lancaster in 2013. She works for First Palmetto Bank as a teller.
