This letter is in reference to Jackie Harris running for Lancaster City Council District 3.
As her pastor for the last 10 years at Mount Zion AME Zion Church, it is my privilege to speak on behalf of Mrs. Harris.
She is an adult Sunday school instructor. In teaching the adult class, she is definitely prepared, and has great knowledge of the lesson and the Scriptures involved in teaching her class.
She is on the steward board at the church and in dealing with the financial challenges that it faces from time to time, her opinions and suggestions are not off the wall or out in left field, but are valuable in the decisions that the church faces during this economic time.
The church is involved with the Family Promise Ministry and when the time comes for Mount Zion AME Zion Church to host the family or families that come through Family Promise, Jackie is a volunteer, who is willing to stay overnight to make sure that the family or families are comfortable, protected and cared for.
Every Wednesday, Jackie attends Bible study. Her thirst for the knowledge of God is very, very real. She is a believer of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She believes in this Scripture, Romans 1:16: “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first, and also the Greek.” During Sunday morning services, she is not ashamed or afraid to let the spirit of God have his way.
As I recommend Jackie Harris for the City Council District 3 seat, you would not want anyone more qualified for the position she is seeking. She will be prepared. Jackie will not come with her own agenda, but an agenda of and for the people. On the issues that will come before her, she will not make a hasty decision, but will think the matter through carefully. In representing her district, you will not find a more caring, loyal and dedicated person.
What makes Jackie Harris what she is? She believes and has faith in the God she serves. She knows if it wasn’t for the Lord, she would not be where she is right now. Not only is Jackie caring and prepared as a thinker and a believer, she is definitely spiritual, letting the Lord lead her in the direction he would have her to go.
The city of Lancaster can be comfortable in electing Jackie Harris to City Council. When elected councilwoman, she will represent District 3 with dignity and honor. As her pastor, I am recommending Jackie Harris for the District 3 City Council seat.
