Writer seeks effort to stop child abuse

-A A +A

Child-abuse cases are rising everyday in our county and the United States. According to National Child Abuse Statistics www.childhelp.org/pages/statistics, five children die each day due to abuse-related deaths.
It’s time for us to take a stand against child abuse and make a difference in our community. April is Prevent Child Abuse Awareness Month and we would like for you to join us in our effort to stop child abuse from 4-5:30 p.m. April 2 and April 9 at the Lancaster County Library Meeting Room.
Our goal is for non-profit organizations, agencies and concerned citizens to help us stop the violence before the abuse. I will share my own personal parenting and lack-of parenting skills with my two sons, who are now 22 and 17. This is my first time to speak in public, and I will be extremely nervous, so, please bare with me.
Let’s stand together and lower the statistics of child abuse in Lancaster and the nation. My goal is to one day start a non-profit organization, Before DSS, where parents can get information to prevent child abuse.
I’m not a professional and I’m not associated with any agency. I’m just a struggling parent with a mission to save children from abuse.
I invite you to join us as we discuss what can be done to stop child abuse. For details, call (803) 246-0297 or e-mail, judypowers85@yahoo.com.
