I recently attended a back-to-school event at the Micheal Blackmon Foundation for the children of our community. Councilwoman Linda Blackmon-Brace greeted everyone as they entered the foundation, young and old alike.
She played with the children, even down to putting on a bathing suit and sliding on the tarps in the grass with them. In no way did she leave out the adults. She took the time to talk to everyone there. I thank God to live in a community where the Fire Chief Chris Nunnery, and the fire department members take time, to not only come to an event and sprinkle the children with water, but laughed and talked with them also. The food was not to be believed, fresh hot chicken and hot dogs in huge supply, and to top it off, a sno-cone to wash it down with.
If that was not to your liking, she also offered cold sodas or bottled water to quench your thirst. The day brought back fond memories attending such events when my children were small.
