ROCK HILL – A Lancaster woman was killed over the weekend in a three-vehicle accident in York County.

Peggy Landry, 46, was driving a 1995 Harley Davidson motorcycle about 4:20 p.m. Saturday when she was struck from behind by a Dodge pickup, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred east of Rock Hill on Lesslie Highway at the Springdale Road intersection.

Landry's vehicle and another motorcycle carrying two people were heading north and were preparing to stop at the intersection when Michael Reid, the driver of the truck, hit both of them, Cpl. Bryan McDougald said.

Landry died at the scene from multiple blunt force trauma, said York County Interim Coroner Sabrina Gast.

Ronald Herring, 52, and Barbara Herring, 48, were each taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. On Tuesday afternoon, both remained in critical condition.

None of the motorcycle riders was wearing a helmet, according to the Highway Patrol.

Reid, 19, of Rock Hill was charged with felony driving under the influence involving a death and two counts of felony DUI involving great bodily injury.

Speed is believed to be a factor, although it's undetermined how fast the truck was traveling, the patrol said.
