Whittlesey column: Washington politicians: Do as I say, not as I do

-A A +A

Franklin Whittlesey Sr. is an Indian Land resident.

What’s the best way to explain or analyze what a moderate Republican and a liberal Democratic represent?
The word I find in Roget’s New Thesaurus (expanded edition) is “hypocrite.”
Words such as hypocrisy, hypocritical, hypocriticalness, complacent, smug and self-contented best explain the actions and thinking of moderate Republicans and Democrats.
The Washington, D.C., politicians who now run the country are riding a skateboard down the  idealistic road without a crash helmet, while heading for a 90-degree curve around a cliff face like Arizona’s U.S. 89 around the Grand Canyon.
President Barack Obama and his lost sheep (followers) are drooling and slobbering all over themselves looking for a spittoon to spit their warped thinking into the collection of spittle they call justice and equity, with a “do as I say, not as I do” mindset.
Volumes could be written about politicians and their “do as I say, not as I do” attitude toward the voters and residents of America.
A good example of hypocrisy that constantly pollutes the air waves radiating from Washington, D.C., is taxes.
Obama’s carbon tax is a joke and a fraud, just as the Al Gore global warming debacle that was created by liberal Democrats.
The Obama and his ilk are infected with the disease of liberalism, characterized by the insatiable urge to spend other’s money.
The head of all this amplified confusion is none other than Obama.
Air Force One burns 4,000 gallons of jet fuel per hour. Obama has three other fuel guzzlers, adding another 12,000 gallons of burning jet fuel that create a totally unnecessary atmospheric carbon footprint.
Obama takes Air force One to Walmart or to Paris to shop with a stopover in London or just a jaunt to Hawaii. Multiply that by a 10-hour flight one way for three jet liners, in addition to the return trip fuel. It is a “do as I say, not as I do” tidbit. How about $6 a gallon jet fuel? Who pays that bill?
U.S. Vice President Joe “Joke” Biden is not only a hypocrite, but a cheapskate draft dodger. Biden is all in favor of any kind of tax, especially the carbon tax.
Biden convieniently forgot about his hometown of Scranton, Pa., (possibly in a senior moment or maybe just an “I don’t want to talk about the truth” one).
Sixty years ago, I drove through Wilkes Bare/Scranton and was amazed at the huge piles of smoking coal overburden. That area of Pennsylvania has the only anthracite coal in the world known for its hardness, not smoking while burning. Yet, anthracite still produces poison gases.
Will the administration carbon tax Pennsylvania?
Not too far from Biden’s hometown is Centralia, which has been abandoned due to underground coal fires with temperatures in excess of 1,000 degrees.
These underground fires, which cover several square miles, have been burning for more than 50 years and are impossible to put out without federal help.
The fires are spewing poison gas into the atmosphere and poison chemicals leaching into the ground water have turned once fertile land into dust.
This is happening in Biden’s backyard and the vice president is in favor of a carbon emission tax against American industry? Twenty states have underground coal fires.
Uncle Sam (the entire United States government) is the largest consumer of fuel and oil in the world. Obama’s wars consume huge amounts of fuel, but any mention of their carbon footprint?
As the supposed leaders of our country, Obama and Biden should do as they say do.
For starters, they should sell Air Force One, stay in Washington, D.C., and do the jobs they promised to do. Use electronic communication in place of Air Force One.
If the truth be known, since 2008, these two have burned more than 500,000 gallons of jet fuel, flitting all around the world, while accomplishing zero.
Biden is thrifty with his own money, but when it involves spending ours, he jumps headlong into the pile of free tax dollars.
Biden and Obama stand by the liberal code: Do as I say, not as I do.
Is there any wonder why America is going to hell in a handbasket? The basket is filled with government laws and rules. Press 1 to ask if you can go to the bathroom, press 2 to ask if you can put your shoes on.
