Does anyone have respect for other people’s property? I know most people do, but there are many who don’t. I work at the Food Lion in Lancaster Square and park my truck in about the same place everyday. I work hard to pay for it, the insurance and other expenses.
On Sept. 15, I was in the store working, when one of the employees who happened to be outside on break, came and told me someone had just backed into my truck. She and a few other people witnessed the incident.
A customer I have known for a while saw it as well. He said the people in that car got out, looked at the damage, got back in the car and drove off. The customer yelled for them to stop, but they kept going. Lucky for me the witnesses got the tag number, or so I thought. I then called the police. An officer listened to what happened, but told me there was nothing he could do because it happened on private property. He gave me an accident report for me to fill out and give to my insurance company, who will have to pay for the damage.
How much trouble would it have been to write a name and number and put on my windshield? If it had been the other way around and I ran into your car, I would have left you a note or found you and took responsibility for my mistake. That is what is wrong with this world today; there are just so many who do not take responsibility for their actions.
While there are those who don’t take responsibility here on Earth, there will be a time where they will be held accountable for their actions. Whether you believe or not, you, me and every soul will have to answer to God for all our actions.
