On Oct. 30, the city of Lancaster hosted its annual Boo FunFest in historic downtown Lancaster. City Hall parking lot became a place where the children of Lancaster could gather for an evening of games and treats without the tricks.
From 4-7 p.m., children of all ages filled the streets to enjoy free popcorn, punch and games. What originally began as a safe Halloween alternative for children to trick-or-treat, Boo FunFest has grown to become an annual Halloween destination for families throughout Lancaster. More than 3,000 people attended this year’s event.
Because of the valuable contributions of dedicated people in Lancaster, Boo FunFest was a great time for all. On behalf of the city of Lancaster, we would like to thank the city of Lancaster Promotions Committee members Joan Bowers, Grace Hilton, Linda Lucas-Meetz, Lori Brewer, Blondean Funderburk, Amy Thompson, Charles Vann and Steve Koss.
Thank you to community volunteers, such as Breanna Hinson, Precious Joyner, Gregory Sims, Frankie Cunningham, Jada Brice, Heather Mueller, the Young People In Charge, Aisha Mackey and The Xquizit Angelz and the Carolina Klassy Ladies Social Club.
Also a big thank you to city employees, City Councilman John Howard, City Administrator Helen Sowell, Teresa Meeks, Todd, Wendy and Grady Duncan, Karen Evans, Denise Scott, Doris Ealey, Jimola Wade, and to the always-supportive Lancaster Fire Department and the Lancaster Public Works Department for joining in the fun while providing a safe environment.
It is because of these generous volunteers that we were able to provide our wonderful citizens an event to remember.
