Vols unbeaten in Comporium tournament

Andrew Jackson posted its second straight win in the Comporium Invitational preseason baseball tournament with a 6-2 victory over Class AAA foe Nation Ford High of Fort Mill on Tuesday night.

Vols’ ace right-hander Tripp Rollings notched the win, striking out eight in four frames. He allowed no hits, two walks, hit a batter and no earned runs.

Rollings, 1-0, aided his cause with a hit and drove in two runs.

Chandler Neal earned the save, hurling three frames and fanning three. He yielded two walks and a hit.

Bobby Delly led the AJ attack with two hits and scored twice.Neal and D.J. McIlwain each rapped a hit and drove in a run. Adam Eubanks, Tyler Rodgers and Seth Graves each had a hit and tallied a run. Eric Broughton and Sidney Watson each had a hit.

AJ hosted McBee on Thursday and moves to the tourney finals on Saturday.

Buford is 1-1 in tournament play after receiving a forfeit from Ridge View High School on Tuesday.

Chesterfield notched its second win, taking a 10-7 win over South Pointe.

Trent Allen, 1-0, was the winner and Landon Walters earned the save. Colby Croxton drilled two hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Taylor King had two hits, including a home run, and scored three runs. Seth Truesdale had a homer with two RBIs. Kevin Caskey added a hit and two RBIs.

SP’s Nick Robbins took the loss. Zach Taylor and Wade Hopper paced the Stallions’ offense.

In Chesterfield’s 8-3 win over Buford on Saturday, Nick Cooke was the winner, going 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. Kelly Butler worked 2.2 frames for the save.

Seth Truesdale led the offense with three hit, drove in three runs and scored three runs. Solomon Jordon had two hits.

In other Saturday action, South Pointe downed Ridge View, 5-2.

RV’s Alex Snider took the loss. Tyler Romanik led RV with two doubles. Hampton Bailey drilled a home run.

McBee defeated Lakewood, 12-5. Duane Churchill had two hits for the Gators and Dolan Crolley homered and drove in two runs. David Hayden took the loss.

In Lakewood’s 18-1 loss to AJ to open the tourney, David Hayden had two hits and Dolan Crolley added a hit. Rian Haseldon took the loss.

Seth Truesdale led the offense with three hits, drove in three runs and scored three runs. Solomon Jordon had two hits.

In other Saturday action, South Pointe downed Ridge View, 5-2.

The 11 a.m. game has the fourth-place team from each division playing for seventh and eighth place.

The 1:30 p.m. game has the third-place team from each division playing for fifth and sixth place.

The 4 p.m. game has the second-place team playing for fifth and sixth place.

The 6:30 p.m. game features the first-place team   from each division playing  for first and second   place.
