Vols prevail in exciting soccer win

Andrew Jackson opened its 2011 high school soccer season, gaining some revenge from its last match of the 2010 campaign.

On Monday night after several scrimages and preseason tournaments, the Vols booters played their first regular-season match at home against Gilbert. The GHS Indians eliminated AJ from the Class AA playoffs last year.

The match was tied 0-0 after regulation and two overtimes.

AJ then won the penalty kicks 4-2. The PK goals were scored by Joseph Harris, Trevor Hammond, Kevin Hunter and Denton Clements.
