INDIAN LAND – Several residents of Sun City Carolina Lakes believe one of their neighbors has it out for them and their car tires.
According to a Jan. 2 incident report, the property manager for the community called a Lancaster County sheriff’s deputy to the office and gave him several bags of broken glass and roofing nails.
The manager said the detritus had been swept up by multiple residents who, in separate incidents over the course of several days, found it scattered over their driveways and the road in front of their homes.
Another deputy, who’d been working off duty at SCCL, said he learned of the incidents from several residents Jan. 1, who said they’d also found the same at their homes.
The residents named a suspect and said they wanted him ticketed. The deputy said he couldn’t “just write (the suspect) a ticket and leave it on his car,” but agreed to go by the man’s house to speak with him.
The deputy said no one answered the door, so he notified the oncoming day shift of the incidents and asked them to check the area.
As of press time, the man had not been charged though deputies submitted the bags of glass and nails as evidence and filed the incidents as an open case of vandalism.
