The University of South Carolina at Lancaster Lancers softball team notched a pair of home wins over USC-Salkehatchie on Saturday.
The Lancers captured the opener in dramatic fashion, posting a 7-5 win and then took a 5-0 win in the nightcap.
Cherrelle Cousar clubbed a two-run home run to snap a 5-all tie to give the Lancers a 7-5 win over the Indians in the opener. Cousar had a single, double to go with her two-run shot and drove in four runs.
Courtney Cauthen tossed a five-hitter and allowed five runs with six strikeouts.
Jena Hallman rapped three hits and scored three runs. Leslie Pressley had two hits.
Candice Benson had a hit and scored a run. Jordan Boone added a hit.
Brittney Speagle had a walk, stolen base and scored a run. Kurstin Cope drew a walk and tallied a run.
In the second game, Jena Hallman hurled a shutout, allowing a hit and a walk. She fanned two.
Hallman aided her cause with a RBI-double. Brittany Craig had three hits, including her first college home run, and drove in two runs to lead the winners.
Leslie Pressley had a hit and scored twice. Cherrelle Cousar, Jordan Boone, Courtney Cauthen and Brittany Speagle each had a hit. Kurstin Cope and Candice Benson each had a RBI.
The Lancers visit Pitt Community College this weekend and host USC-Salkehatchie on April 22-23.
