The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers’ soccer team hit the road Tuesday for Allendale, looking for better results in Region X matches with USC Salkehatchie.

The Lancers’ teams dropped two matches to visiting Spartanburg Methodist College at the new USCL field on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

In the boys’ match, USCL dropped an 11-0 loss, while the Lady Lancers fell to the SMC Lady Pioneers, 9-0.

The Lancers are 0-4, while the USCL women’s team is 1-2 on the season.

In the boys’ match, the No. 13 Pioneers, the defending Region X champions, built a 7-0 halftime lead and added four second-half goals on the way to the win.

SMC had 25 shot on goal to nine for the Lancers.

USCL sophomore keeper Jose Pablo posted eight saves in the match.

In the girls’ match, SMC had 22 shots on goal to 12 for the Lady Lancers.

USCL sophomore keeper Hattie Ruch posted 17 saves in the match.

Following the trip to Allendale to face USC Salkehatchie, the Lancers will be at home to face CFCC on Sept. 15.

The men’s match kicks off at 4 p.m., with the women’s match slated for a 2 p.m. start.

The new USCL field is located below the Carole Ray Dowling Center. Parking is available in the lot on the west side of the building.

 There is no admission to the USCL matches.
