USCL posts sweep of Columbia College jayvee team

The University of South Carolina Lady Lancers softball team swept a non-region twin bill from the Columbia College junior varsity, winning 7-4 and 12-4.

In the opener, Callie Wayne was the winner in four frames of work. She allowed a run, one earned run, two hits and three walks. Wayne struck out five. Wayne aided her cause with a hit, run and RBI.

Haley Lewis drilled two hits to lead the offense.

Anna Wilbourne drilled a double, drove in three runs and scored three runs. Tiffany Chapman crashed a solo home run and scored twice. Dacia O’Neal and Jamee Blackmon each had a hit and drove in a run. Ashley Williams reached as she was hit by a pitch three times and scored a run.

Kayla Lloyd also worked three innings, allowing three runs, three earned runs, four hits and a walk. She fanned one.

In game two, the Lady Lancers drilled 10 hits on the way to the eight-run win.

Ashley Williams rapped three hits, drove in two runs and scored twice. Kayla Lloyd had two hits and scored twice. She had a double and drove in two runs as the walk-off game winner in the USCL fifth.

Tiffany Chapman delivered two hits, drove in three runs and scored a run. Jamee Blackmon ripped two hits, including a double, with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Winning pitcher Callie Wayne, in three innings, allowed no runs, no earned runs, two hits and a walk. She fanned six batters. She had a hit and scored a run.

Katie Rowell registered two hits and scored a run. Daphne Honeycutt had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.

The Lady Lancers won one of four games with USC Sumter in a four-game series March 9-10.

The Lancers topped USC Sumter 9-5 in game one on Sunday, March 10.

Kayla Lloyd went three innings and allowed two runs, an earned run and four hits. She fanned one.

Anna Wilbourne led the offense with four hits, a RBI and scored twice. Tiffany Chapman chipped in two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs. Amanda Burr belted a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to key the win.

Daphne Honeycutt and Haley Lewis each had a hit for the winners.

In game two, USC Sumter downed USCL, 13-7.

Kayla Lloyd took the loss in three frames, yielding nine runs, five earned runs, seven hits and a walk. She fanned one. Callie Wayne worked three innings and allowed two runs, two earned runs, six hits and a walk. She whiffed two.

Tiffany Chapman clubbed a three-run home run. She drove in four runs and scored twice. Ashley Williams had three hits, including a double, and scored a run. Katie Rowell had two hits and drove in a run.

Anna Wilbourne had a hit and scored twice. Amanda Burr, Daphne Honeycutt and Jamee Blackmon each had a hit.

The Lady Fire Ants of USC Sumter took two in region play on March 9.

USCS took a 15-11 win to cap the first-day sweep.

The USCL girls dropped a 10-8 loss to Sumter in the opener.

Amanda Burr boosted the USCL attack with two hits, two RBIs and scored a run. Daphne Honeycutt had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Lloyd had two hits and drove in a run. Tiffany Chapman chipped in two hits. Haley Lewis supplied two hits and scored a run.
