The founding of the University of South Carolina at Lancaster in 1959 created new hopes and opportunities for area citizens. In 1951, a void in the community led to the vision of the future.

USCL has come a long way since then. It has greatly changed the community and it changed many of our lives. It shows by radiating change and hope in the community. Where there is hope, there is a bright future. From one house and humble beginnings, growth continues to this day.

USCL has risen to meet the challenges and help the community. USCL is changing lives, one student at a time.

Businesses, real estate agencies, service people, retailers and related professionals recognize progress in the community through USCL.

How has your life changed since your time spent at USCL?

Fifty years have passed and the history and documents of the university are beginning to be organized by archivist Brent Burgin. I was fortunate to assist at the beginning of this long-term project and it is off to a great start.

I have come across information, former students, faculty and staff. We have been looking for materials printed about the history and to identify documents and photos to add to the archives. These will be lasting memories for the archives. More information will be coming soon.
