RICHBURG – Nine Lancaster County prep football players were honored for their play over the last two weeks at the meeting of the Founders Federal Credit Union Tri-County Football Coaches Association on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Awards were presented to the players for their play in weeks four and five.
Lancaster High’s Darrius Truesdale was named the week five winner for Div. 1 defensive line. Truesdale had 15 tackles in LHS’s loss to Northwestern, including two sacks.
Other week five winners were Indian Land’s Jimmy Locklear, Andrew Jackson’s Demarzia Truesdale, AJ’s Jared Hayes, Indian Land’s Dylan Deese and AJ’s Chandler Neal.
Locklear, in the Div. II offensive lineman of the week, graded 90 percent in IL’s 20-14 win over McBee. Truesdale, in AJ’s win over Northwestern, had six tackles, four assists, four sacks and two tackles for loss to earn Div. II Defensive Player of the Week.
Hayes had 12 tackles to take the Div. II Defensive Lineman of the Week which he shared with IL’s Dylan Deese, who had 11 tackles, five tackles for loss and a sack at McBee.
AJ’s Neal was named the Div. II Specialist of the Week for week four and five.
Neal, in AJ’s win over North Central, had three touchbacks with 6 of 6 on extra points and a 42-yard punting average. Neal, in the Vols’ victory over Great Falls, drilled five extra points and had a 47-yard punting average.
Andrew Jackson quarterback Kolby Whitley was the Div. II Offensive Player of the Week for week four, hitting 13 of 21 passes for 267 yards and ran for 42 yards on 12 carries with two scores.
William Cunningham was the week 4 Div. II Defensive Lineman of the Week with five tackles and three assists.
Lewisville winners included Qua Walls (week 5 Div. II Offensive Player of the Week), Marquis Hart (week 4 Divi. II Defensive Player of the Week), Parker Cox (week 4 Div. II Defensive Lineman of the Week) and Kevian Williams (week 5 Div. II Defensive Lineman of the Week).
The Div. I week four winners are Rock Hill’s Josh Erby (offensive player), Northwestern’s Kyle Jordan (offensive lineman), Rock Hill’s DeAndre Diary (offensive lineman), Northwestern’s Russell Hubbs (defensive player), Rock Hill’s T.J. Halsey (defensive player) and York’s Buddy Anderson (special teams player of the week).
The Div. I week five winners are York’s Spencer Carroll (offensive player), Northwestern’s Anthony Ruff (offensive lineman), York’s Toby Rector (offensive lineman), Northwestern’s A.J. McCoy (defensive player), York’s Ty Currence (defensive player) and Northwestern’s Sully Foy (special teams player).
