KERSHAW – Lancaster High School notched a season-opening sweep of county rival Andrew Jackson High School, but the hoops broom job on the Vols’ home floor didn’t come easy.
After the LHS girls notched a 52-35 win, the determined Vols of first-year AJ boys’ coach Dale Reeves battled the Bruins to the wire before LHS took a 62-61 win.
Lancaster High School junior guard Shurdell Wright hit two free throws with 1.8 seconds to play for what proved to be the winning points in the Bruins’ comeback win.
