Lancaster County high school basketball teams open the playoffs this week.A trio of county girls teams launch play Tuesday night.Indian Land, the defending Class A Upstate champ, opens defense of its title as it treks to Calhoun County for an opening round clash. IL is the third seed out of Conference III-A, while Calhoun County is the runner-up in Conference IV-A. The IL vs. Calhoun County winner advances to face the Calhoun Falls vs. Greenville Tech victor on Friday at 7.Lancaster High’s girls, 14-6, trek to Spartanburg to battle the Lady Vikings at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The SHS Lady Vikings captured the Region II-AAAA title. Lancaster is the fourth seed out of Region III.The Lancaster-Spartanburg winner meets the Lexington vs. Wren winner on Friday.The AJ Lady Volunteers, the fourth seed out of Conference VIII-AA, visit Conference VII-AA champion Kingstree on Tuesday night. The AJ-Kingstree winner moves on to face the Bishop England vs. Barnwell victor.The AJ Vols launch their bid Wednesday night at 7 when they visit Dillon, the Conference VII-AA runner-up. The AJ vs. Dillon winner advances to meet the Burke vs. Silver Bluff winner on Saturday at 7 p.m.
