It will be the perfect time to put your heart in the arts, as the Lancaster County Council of the Arts holds its annual fundraiser gala.
The gala, the arts council’s biggest fundraiser, begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 at The Fairway Room at the Lancaster Golf Club. The theme is Mardi Gras Mystique.
“It should be the most flamboyant event yet, as far as decorations go,” said arts council director Sam Courtney.
A jazz band, fortune teller, magician, food and open bar will be part of the fun.
The night will feature live and silent auctions of art donated by local artists.
It will also include items such as gift baskets from hair salons, jewelry and a VIP box at Knights Stadium, giving the winner the chance to throw the first pitch at a Charlotte Knights game.
There will be a drawing for a special train trip. The winner will receive three nights in Washington, D.C., or two nights in New York City, with a private chef and luxury accommodations aboard the train.
Tickets for the black-tie optional gala are $40 each for arts council members, and $50 for non-members.
Courtney urges art lovers to take their Valentine to the gala. Donations are crucial with the slow economy.
“We hope people will come out and support the gala,” Courtney said. “It keeps us open.”
