Two men are still on the run after leading police on a car chase that ended with a runaway car hitting a fence Nov. 30.
The chase began shortly after 9:22 p.m. Nov 30 when officers responded to Pardue Street Apartments about someone reportedly  pointing a gun at a resident earlier that night, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.
After speaking with the resident, officers found the suspect’s car, a silver Lincoln Town Car, traveling toward East Arch Street. Multiple patrol cars followed and caught up to the car near the Municipal Justice Center.
An officer tried to pull the car over along South Market Street, but the driver kept going and changing lanes, the report said.
“The vehicle turned onto Miller Street, at which time he began to give it more gas in an attempt to evade me,” the officer wrote in the report.
The car then drove through a stop sign at Miller and Connor streets and almost struck another patrol car approaching the intersection, the report said.
Officers continued to chase the car as it went the wrong way on New Miller Street. The car then pulled into the driveway of a home in the 500 block of Miller Street and both the driver and a front-seat passenger jumped from the car and ran away, the report said.
The car, which was not put in park, continued moving and struck a fence.
Police saw the driver jump over a fence and run behind the houses along Hampton Road, while the passenger crossed Hampton Road and disappeared before officers could find him.
Both men were wearing red shirts and the driver was wearing dark blue jeans and a dark jacket, the report said.
During a search of the car, officers found a wallet, a bottle of pills, a blunt filled with marijuana and a “roach” in the driver’s side door.
Lancaster Police Capt. Scott Grant said Tuesday the case remains active, though no arrests have been made in the case.
