J.S. Tirado

The Kershaw Composite Squad of the Civil Air Patrol would like to thank you for the newspaper articles written on behalf of our Wreaths Across America campaign.  The articles written by Gregory A. Summers on Nov. 19 and Nita Brown on Dec. 15 did much to contribute to the success in our effort to honor the many veterans buried in the Kershaw Cemetery.
Many people throughout the community had positive comments about the articles and being made aware of our honored veterans. This year was the first time in Kershaw history that we participated in this national campaign to honor veterans who are buried in cemeteries across the nation. Kershaw was only one of seven in the state of South Carolina to participate in the event and the smallest to honor its veterans.  Per capita, however, we were the largest groups in the nation to raise funds for this special event.
Thanks to the articles, we were able to properly honor the estimated 500 veterans buried in the Kershaw Cemetery.Again, on behalf of our squadron, I would like to thank you for your support to our Wreaths Across America campaign and the Civil Air Patrol.
