Wachovia Bank will present the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Lancaster State of the Community event at 8 a.m. Aug. 25 in the Fairway Room at the Lancaster Golf Club.

The breakfast event will provide a venue for elected officials from the city of Lancaster, Lancaster County and the Lancaster County School District to give the community an update on current activities and challenges their branch of government is facing.

Officials will highlight the previous year’s work and outline plans for the upcoming year.

The session will afford attendees an opportunity to hear first-hand information from each local governmental entity to better understand its direction, focus and goals.

“We are very pleased to present this program to the Lancaster community, and we appreciate our local officials taking the time to update us. With the many economic challenges facing Lancaster County citizens, our governments and our school district, and with their new fiscal year getting underway, it is a pertinent time to learn about the state of our community,” said Jay Rainey, president of the chamber.

Cost for the breakfast is $10 per member and $20 for non-members.

Advance registration is requested.

To register, call the chamber office at (803) 283-4105.

Gold sponsors of the event are the city of Lancaster and Lancaster County. Comporium Communications and the Mulvaney Companies are silver sponsors. Lancaster County School District, The Lancaster News, Metso Power and York Electric Co-operative are bronze sponsors.
