Sigmon-Langley team for bass tourney victory

Friends of Lady Jackets Bass Tournament

The duo of Greg Sigmon and Chris Langley captured first-place honors in the third annual Friends of the Lady Jackets bass fishing tournament held Saturday at Fishing Creek Landing.

Sigmon and Langley teamed for 14.46 pounds to top the 11-boat field.

Jeff Segee and Logan Segee, a standout on the BHS basketball and baseball teams, finished second with 14.22 pounds.

The first big fish was a 4.89-pounder which was landed by Ronald “Punk” Reid and Ronnie Jenkins.

The second big fish was a 4.63-pounder weighed in by David Love and Corey Love.

“We were pleased with the tournament,” said Susan Steele, a BHS girls basketball varsity assistant. “We appreciate our sponsors and the Lancaster Bassmasters for making the tournament a success.”

Tournament proceeds benefit the Lady Jackets’ basketball team for the 2011-2012 season.

Bruin Bassin’ Classic

The 25th annual Bruin Bassin Classic, an open team tournament sponsored by the Lancaster Bassmasters, will be held Saturday at Clearwater Cove on Lake Wateree.

Tournament officials will be taking early entries from 4-6 p.m. today at Clearwater Cove Marina.

The tournament features a big fish contest with 100 percent payback for big fish.

Proceeds raised go to the Lancaster Bassmasters’ Christmas charities.
