The 2009 Shrine Bowl game didn’t feature a direct Lancaster County connection, but there were a few local ties.
North Carolina, in the 73rd annual charity prep football game which features the Carolinas’ top senior football players, took a 24-14 win. The Tar Heels bolted to a 17-0 lead, and held off a Sandlappers’ rally. The game-clinching touchdown was scored by Northern Guilford’s Keenan Allen on a 32-yard jaunt out of the Wildcat formation.
