A former Lancaster County School District employee faces a host of sex-related charges that originated more than three decades ago.

Stephen Coke Eubanks, 67, of North Augusta, remains behind bars, accused of engaging in sexual behavior with students from the 1970s to the 1990s.

Eubanks worked as a district-level administrator in Lancaster County from 1982 to 1992.

The State Law Enforcement Division began an investigation in September after receiving information about Eubanks from an alleged victim, said SLED spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons.

“We feel there could be more victims out there,” Timmons said. “This is an ongoing case.”

Eubanks was arrested Oct. 21 and charged with a lewd act upon a child under the age of 16, exposing of private parts, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and enticing children from school.

Eubanks, who was an Aiken County school administrator at the time, is accused of trying to have sex with a 14-year-old boy, groping the boy in his genital area, exposing himself and masturbating in the boy’s presence, according to a SLED press release.

An arrest warrant said Eubanks allowed the boy to consume alcohol at Eubanks’ home. Eubanks is accused of taking the boy from school premises without his parents’ permission.

The incidents allegedly occurred between 1975 and 1977.

Eubanks is also accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl in 1976. He is accused of giving the girl and other minors alcohol and marijuana, the release said.

These alleged incidents occurred in Aiken County.

Second arrest

After being released from the Aiken County Detention Center, Eubanks was arrested Nov. 18 and charged with the following:

– Two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor

– Engaging a child for sexual performance

– Two counts of lewd act upon a child under 16

– Kidnapping

– Two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor

– Enticing enrolled child from school

Eubanks is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy in 1993, and he is accused of allowing a 15-year-old boy to perform oral sex on him and taking the 15-year-old to rest areas off Interstate 20 in Aiken County and forcing him to perform sex acts with unknown men.

He is accusing of giving the 15-year-old alcohol and marijuana.

Eubanks is also accused of forcing a 15-year-old girl to rub his genitals at his home and taking the girl from her school without her parents’ permission.

The allegations involving the two 15-year-olds occurred in 1977.

Eubanks remains jailed at the Aiken County Detention Center. His bond had been denied.

None of the alleged incidents took place in Lancaster County, where Eubanks was an assistant superintendent of business with the district until his departure in June 1992.

SLED has established a toll-free hotline dedicated to this investigation.
