Ever since I earned the right to vote at age 18, 35 years ago, I have faithfully exercised that right. That is a right that a lot of people in this world can only dream about. Like a lot of other people, I get flustered by people who gripe and complain about politics, only to learn they don’t even vote.
In my book, you haven’t earned the right to complain if you didn’t vote. While some people are content with just voting, others are content with complaining, there are a few individuals who are just natural-born leaders who throw their hats into the political arena. One of those individuals is Kathy Sistare.
As Dr. Michael Kimbrell eloquently stated in his letter to the editor on June 1, Kathy Sistare is honest, trustworthy and civic-minded. She is also well-educated, dedicated and a strong-willed leader. As a member of Lancaster County Council, she will not “kow-tow” to good-old-boy politics or the business-as-usual attitude that has permeated our County Council for the past 35 years.
If this county wants to be truly progressive, then we need someone like Kathy Sistare on County Council. She will look out for our best interests and guide our county in the right direction.
I, for one, am tired of the wasteful spending, the giving-away-the-farm policy of recruiting potential companies to locate into our county and the attitude our current council has, that the county’s taxpayers should foot the bill for their mistakes in judgment.
Come June 10, there will still be some people who are apathetic toward politics. But for those who are tired of the current status quo, I urge you to vote for someone that has your best interest at heart and that someone is Kathy Sistare.
