S.C. Rep. Phillip Lowe-District (D-60) is to be roundly applauded for introducing legislation to permit teachers and administrators to come to the armed defense of our children. As laudable as representative Lowe’s bill is, it is regrettable that legislation must be proposed to secure the right to protect children in the first place.
In Washington, D.C., debate will focus on so-called assault weapons, high capacity magazines and guns that look particularly dangerous. Libertarians realize this debate will miss the point of the Second Amendment entirely.
