A bird's-eye view of the Edgewater property is all Patrick Josey needed to be convinced that the development was for him.

Josey and his wife, Dawn, are in negotiations to buy a tract of land on the development, 10 miles southwest of Lancaster. After touring the lake-front property from a helicopter last week, the Joseys feel more assured that this will be the site of their future home.

"It pretty much sealed the deal for us," said Josey, who's looking to relocate from Charlotte, where he's lived since 1988. "Once you see the land layout and how beautiful it is, it will amaze you."

Several other potential property holders will have the chance to tour the property, located on the banks of Fishing Creek Lake, as part of a promotional event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature helicopter rides, pontoon boat rides of home sites and golf cart tours of the golf course and other property. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

The event is for registered guests only. There will be special incentives and discounts offered throughout the day.

Harbor Point's 135 homesites range from the $60,000s to the mid-$300,000s. The neighborhood will feature lakefront, lakeview, golf course lots and interior lots, with home prices from the $300,000s to $1 million and up.

Work is under way to complete a pro shop pavilion, a golf clubhouse, a pool and a lakeside park.

The Pete Dye-designed golf course is under construction, with two more holes to finish. Developers hope the course is completed later this year.

Community docks, a meeting house, a lake club and water park are all planned for the development.

Prospective buyers will have an opportunity to tour model homes at the development on Saturday.

Harbor Point is one of the neighborhoods within Edgewater, a 1,100-acre community within Catawba Ridge along the Catawba River in western Lancaster County. Edgewater has been under development for about the last five years, said Lancaster County Planning Director Chris Karres.

Other neighborhoods under development within Edgewater include The Cottages ($100,000s-$700,000s), The Reserve ($100,000s-$200,000s), Lakeview Point ($250,000s to $1 million-plus) and The Links ($150,000s-$300,000s), with Bridlewood and The Sanctuary slated as future developments.
