Prices reach new record

Barbara Miller bought a Chrysler LeBaron a few months ago to drive instead of her Ford Expedition. Her sole purpose was to get more miles per gallon.

But as she filled up her Chrysler at Crenco on South Main Street, she was left thinking about other ways to combat the rising cost.

On Tuesday, gasoline prices rose to a record national average of $4.04 a gallon. The increase has forced many people to change their driving habits and cut back on their overall spending.

"It's bad everywhere," Miller said. "I wish somebody would do something."
